Stanley and Stella are married and live in the down stairs of a flat. Eunice and Steve occupy the top story. The role in their relationship is reversed compared to Stanley and Stella’s, with Eunice being the more dominant.
Blanche is Stella’s sister and they have not seen each since they lived at Belle Reve. Blanche arrives on a streetcar named Desire, so this is were the title presumably came from. The poker game symbolises the relationship between Stanley and Blanche and the ‘game’ they play. (more…)
When is mob justice justified? Is it true that justice acts too slowly and therefore should we commend the people who take the law into their own hands for their quick thinking and swift punishment for wrongdoing? Both of the novels The Ox-Bow Incident and To Kill a Mockingbird, by Walter Van Tilburg Clark and Harper Lee respectively, demonstrate the consequences of mob violence and punishment without trial. It can be deduced that mob justice, or people acting on what they think is right and not observing what the law says, is not justified in any case. Too many problems arise when justice is not left for the courts to decide. This is observed in The Ox-Bow Incident, where a mob gathers and lynches several suspected criminals, but only results in even more death for several innocent people. (more…)
My opinion about all individuals of this world is that we are all like story books and novels. Every individual has his story to share and tell. There are moments of happiness and so the moments of grief too. The moments of happiness usually passes quickly than the sad ones. Since, I am one of those individuals too, I have my story too, a true story about myself.
The problems are a part of everyone’s life, my problem was related to my health and it started at a very early age. I was a very active child of my time, enjoyed every single minute of my life till I was six. I did not even know the correct spelling of jaundice and small pox, these two diseases attacked me at this age. The main problem was my eyes and my appearance which was completely changed .
